NYC’s bird-friendly building legislation, Local Law 15 of 2020, will take effect in January 2021. This law has flown under the radar, leaving many architects, clients, and building professionals unaware of its requirements and unprepared for its effects. The session will describe the issues behind the law and its requirements, including a recently completed NYC Department of Buildings guidance document. Examples of bird-friendly building design and solutions to enable compliance will be presented.
