MAKER CITY: Trends in the Maker Industry
This portion of the panel will explore the current trends and businesses involved in advancing and transforming maker spaces, from Wellington’s case studies of successful maker spaces to Pongratz’ efforts to bring maker education into academia, and Kimball’s transformation of Industry City. Panelists discuss where the maker industry is today, and where it’s going.

In the second panel, the audience will take what they’ve learned about trends in the maker industry and delve into how this industry is uniquely transforming the city, from Lago’s experiments at DCP to promote urban manufacturing, to Wouters’s experiences creating active streetscapes, to Friedman’s non-profit efforts at the Pratt Center to advance maker spaces in neighborhoods. Panelists will discuss how this industry is transforming the city.
