This presentation will focus on the practice of collaborative “integration” in research, during design, via project delivery, and in verification of project performance. The firms of Kieran Timberlake and BurroHappold consistently raise the bar in helping advance the value proposition of today’s architectural and engineering design services.
The primary case study is Brown University’s new Engineering Research Center, completed in November of 2017. Utilizing an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method, the design team worked closely with Brown faculty, project consultants, construction manager, and subcontractors from the onset of design. The presentation will explore the opportunities and challenges the design team faced as they worked to create a world-class research facility within a new project delivery model.
In addition to a complex program, the project also had ambitious sustainability and energy use goals. Kieran Timberlake prioritize ongoing research and tool development in their practice to facilitate desirable performance outcomes across all project types.
