On 10.02.17, the Center for Architecture kicked off Archtober, NYC’s Architecture and Design Month, with the opening of “Scaffolding.” Curated by Greg Barton, the exhibition examines extraordinary applications of scaffolding as a kit-of-parts technology that can provide novel forms of inhabitation and access. The exhibition, designed by Shohei Shigematsu and OMA New York with graphic design by MTWTF, disrupted the space of the Center for Architecture, instilling a new appreciation for the material’s transformative potential.
Join us on 10.07.17 for a full day of scaffolding-related talks and activities. “Scaffolding: A Framework for Social Engagement” will feature a curator’s talk, a lecture from an architect featured in the exhibition, and a keynote by Shohei Shigematsu. Following these conversations, helloeverything will lead audiences through a hands-on building project using scaffolding connectors and bamboo.
