Last week, on March 13, 2025, the Center for Architecture welcomed over 150 architects, architecture enthusiasts, and young professionals for the 13th annual Guess-A-Sketch! The architecture-themed sketching tournament raised over $75,000 to support the Center for Architecture’s mission of providing design education programs for children, families, and adults.
2023 AIANY President Matthew Bremer, AIA, NCARB, Founder and Principal of Architecture in Formation, served as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies, while four architects sketched iconic buildings from around the world. The 2025 Honoree Sketchers were:
- Andrew Bernheimer, FAIA, Founding Principal, Bernheimer Architecture
- Brent Buck, AIA, NCARB, Principal, Brent Buck Architects
- Wendy Evans Joseph, FAIA, Founder, Studio Joseph
- Stephen Slaughter, Chair of Undergraduate Architecture, Pratt Institute
Eight teams competed to secure the coveted Guess-A-Sketch trophy: Arup, DLR Group, Gensler, Lutron, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, STUDIOS Architecture, Turner Construction, and TYLin. After three formidable rounds, former 2024 champions TYLin took home the famed giant pencil trophy once more as the 2025 Guess-A-Sketch Champions, while Arup followed closely as the runner-up team. Audience members also participated by texting their guesses and won wonderful prizes.
The support garnered from Guess-A-Sketch plays a vital role in ensuring that the Center for Architecture’s initiatives remain inclusive and financially accessible to all residents of New York. Through its Learning:NY by Design program, the Center collaborates with over 28 New York City Public Schools across the city. The Center for Architecture provides a diverse array of educational programs for schools, youth, teachers, and families, offering over $40k in scholarships and financial aid to students and schools in need.
