Building ornaments are used to decorate buildings. Sometimes, they also give us clues about a building’s function or when it was built. There are many different types of building ornaments such as people, animals, plants, geometric designs, dates, and symbols. Have you seen any of these types of ornaments before? Materials: Pencil, cardboard base, salt, flour, water
Step 1: Draw your building ornament design on your cardboard base. Alternatively, you can print a building ornament and trace it onto parchment paper.
Step 2: Make the salt dough: Mix 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt in a bowl. Slowly mix 1 cup of water into mixture until it forms a doughy consistency. Knead dough with your hands on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
Step 3: Create your building ornament using the salt dough. You can add details and textures using a toothpick, straw, pencil or other tools.
